THE YOUNG ENTOMOLOGISTS GROUP

“Megan McCarty: The Life Cycle of the Cecropia Moth (and Why They Make Great Pets)"

with

Ms Megan McCarty

Megan McCarty is an entomologist turned software engineer who has been rearing and breeding silkmoths since she was a teen. Her favorite species, the Cecropia moth (Hyalophora cecropia), is the largest silkmoth in North America, making it a popular species to rear and breed. Come learn about the different stages of this beautiful moth's life cycle, why they make awesome pets, and witness the process of complete metamorphosis! Several cool videos will be shown, and our Young Entomologists will have the opportunity to examine live cocoons (and take some home)!

Please RSVP if you plan to attend.
